Every so often, I post one of my photos as a photo of the week. Here
are some of the photos from previous weeks.
This remains one of my favorite photos, taken at the Celebration of Light fireworks display over
English Bay in Vancouver, BC on Saturday, July 24, 2010.

It's tough to pick just one photo this week. I had the unique opportunity
to go to the 94th Indy 500 as a guest of HP. I'm working on an article
about how HP technology is used by the de Ferran Dragon Racing team.
So this photo of the Borg Warner trophy rolled out onto the track
before the start of the race is just one of many great shots.

This week's photo was taken at the 2010 Winter Olympics. The USA 3 bobsled
driven by Mike Kohn flies past spectators at the Whistler Sliding Center during
the
final heat of the 4-man bobsleigh competition at the 2010 Vancouver Winter
Olympics.

This week's photo was taken in the Fairhaven district in my home town of
Bellingham, WA. Three former Great Northern railroad Pullman cars
were loaded onto flatbed trucks to begin their journey to Pennsylvania.
The cars, which had formerly been the homes of various businesses,
were sold to a woman who plans to convert them into a restaurant.

This week's photo was taken at the 2009 Sea Fair in Seattle. Amazingly, this
was
the first time I have ever gone to Sea Fair. I was the guest of an old childhood friend
of my sister's who has a beautiful house overlooking Lake Washington and the
I-90 floating bridge. Obviously, it was a perfect vantage point to watch all the action
both in the air and out on the lake.

This week's photo was taken out in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada, north of
Reno.
I'm out here chronicling the latest tests of the North American Eagle Land Speed
Record
Challenger vehicle. I recently wrote an article about this for Desktop
Engineering magazine
and am now doing additional research for a longer length project.

This week's photo is a bit different. My wife created this cake, which she
donated
to the auction for the Whatcom County Land Trust. The cake sold for $780
at that auction, the highest amount ever received for a dessert.

This week's photo comes from the 2009 ISU World Single Distance Speed
Skating Championships, held recently at the new Richmond Olympic Oval, which
will be the site of the long track speed skating events at next year's Winter
Olympics. (3/15/09)

While up in Whistler, I tried my hand with light graffiti with the help of
Lee, one of my son's friends who spent the week skiing with us. It may be midnight, but those
neon snowboarders are still at it. (1/28/09)
We were in Arkansas last weekend for a wedding. The ceremony
was held at the beautiful Thorncrown Chapel in Eureka Springs,
Arkansas, designed by renowned architect E. Fay Jones, who
was a student of Frank Lloyd Wright. (2/14/09

Saturday, Genny and I went up to Whistler for the 4 Man Bobsleigh World Cup.
It was a truly incredible event at a fantastic new venue that will be the site of next
year's Winter Olympics. This is just one of several photos of the event.

This past week found me up in Whistler, British Columbia skiing with my son
and some of his friends. Although Sunday was a beautiful day, we took the day off to go
watch the final round of the World Cup Ski Jumping competition.

I've just returned from a brief business trip to India. While there I had the incredible opportunity
to go to Agra to see the Taj Mahal, which was as amazing as I had always imagined.

This image was taken in Yellowstone National Park just after
a rainstorm, at one of the geyser basins. (8/19/08)

I was on my way back home from Seattle when I heard a news
report on the radio about a train wreck. A freight had collided with a
tractor trailer carrying frozen pizza. No one was hurt, but it was a huge
mess that took nearly a day to clean up. I even got interviewed by a Seattle
television station. (3/17/08)

This one proved quite interesting. It's a 360-degree panorama
of the Petit Trion at Versailles, taken when Genny and I were in Paris in
October 2007. (Click and drag on the image to move around.)
