Bruce was in from Hawaii and arranged what has now become an annual
weekend ski trip to Whistler. Bruce and several of his friends arrived
on Thursday evening and skied on Friday. David drove up on Friday
evening, a drive from hell that took seven hours (2 hours to go the
final 4 miles).
But the drive was definitely worth the effort, because
Saturday brought early morning sunshine. As soon as the top of the mountain
opened, Bruce, David, and Bruce's friends Jason and Brian headed up
Spankey's Ladder to get first tracks in Emerald Bowl.
Saturday night, after watching the Seattle Seahawks pull off an
astounding win, we went out for a wonderful Indian dinner at the Tandori
Grill (which has also now become an annual tradition).
Sunday brought snow and extremely high wind at the top of the mountain,
so we stuck to the middle portion of Whistler, skiing nearly foot-deep
powder.
Both days of skiing were absolutely incredible.
