Summer in Couer d'Alene

We drove over for a long weekend visit with Mike, Kate,
and Claire. Couer d'Alene, ID is absolutely beautiful in the summer. The
lake was great. We spent time downtown at a street faire and went to one
of Claire's favorite restaurants, where she got to make her own pizza.
Genny, David, Emma, and Clarice spent a day riding bicycles on an
incredible bike trail on the former right-of-way of the Northern Pacific
Railroad, the Hiawatha Route, which crosses several old trestles and
passes through numerous tunnels on the border between Montana and Idaho.
We rode our bikes one way, and then took a bus back to our starting
point. Everyone was exhausted. But as the bus paused along the way,
there in the river was a moose, taking a drink and just generally
cooling off. Pretty cool, huh?
