Skiing

Saturday, January 5, was Bruce's last day to visit before
he had to head back to Oklahoma. What better way to spend it than skiing
up at Whistler.
We met up with Bruce's friend Jason and his girlfriend early Saturday
morning and drove up to Whistler. We actually spent the day skiing on
Blackcomb, the "other" mountain. Just before lunch, the three
boys decided to ski Sudan Couloir Extreme, purported to be the steepest
run on either mountain. That's David (above left), just below the Couloir,
and Bruce and Jason (above center) around halfway down.
Considering that the weather report called for some nasty weather, we
had a great day. The sun peeked out a few times, then the clouds moved in
(middle photo shows clouds over Whistler across the valley). We skied most
of the morning in 7th Heaven ("Go to Heaven...Ski Like Hell").
By the afternoon, the clouds had cleared out over Whistler Village.
Bruce and David had a great run down Catskinner and Gear Jammer. We had a
beer at the new Dusty's bar at Creekside, and then drove back to
Vancouver.
